Here is the Chris Edwards's opinion:
Agricultural subsidies are unfair. Trade restrictions are counter-productive. Great evil of Energy Regulation. Homes because of the financial crisis helped. But to the silence of pure cash splash for the cake.
That's a great appeal because many government programs are very stupid here, but Edwards makes us wonder what it feels to have reached the program.
- A few billion dollars of wealth have been destroyed. More than 750,000 cars, many consumers would value involved for many years, were thrown in the trash. Assuming that each scrapping premium is worth $ 3,000 to an author, this means that the government would be wiped out $ 2.25 billion.
-Taxpayers have been ripped off 3 billion U.S. dollars. The government has taken my money to give people new cars are much better than mime.
-Low-income families, who tend to buy used cars, were harmed because the clunkers program will push up used car prices.
-The bureaucracy of the federal government should treat people in 1100, was added to the overall management of the scrapping premium. Again, the taxpayers lose.
-The automotive industry has received a brief period of sugar high "at the expense of lower sales future, when the program ended. The program seems to be an increase in sales of about 750,000 cars this year, but it is likely that sales will be lower in the coming years to about 750,000. The program could further damage the prospects of auto dealers and car, diverting their attention from market data, fundamental in the fight for federal funds.
